youth music -
the national vision
Youth Music is a young persons music charity set up in 1999 to promote music making opportunities and to provide advice to those with the least access.
The organisation has three main roles; funder, development agency and advocate. Their aim is to establish a music-making legacy that fulfils the following key objectives:
access - For those with least opportunity
breadth - Music of all styles and all cultures
coverage - Rural, urban, coastal and
UK-wide
development - music leaders getting better at what they do
quality - Encouraging high standards for all
Since December 2000, Youth Music has set up 24 Action Zones. They cover all genres of music and deliver a wide range of activities, including workshops, rehearsals, performances, one-to-one teaching and mentoring.
